Please be sure that your art is properly wired and ready to hang before you attend the Ingathering.

No sawtooth hangers. The instructions below are brief and are for wiring using D-Rings and Eye-Hooks. More detailed instructions and/or videos on this subject may be found online.

WIRING FOR D-RINGS

Supplies: D-rings, wire at a weight that will sufficiently support your art, needle-nose pliers, hammer and 1 nail, or drill, patience.

1. Measure approx. 1/3 – 1/4″ down from top of your art (or frame if framed) on the left and right of the back of your frame or support. Make two small marks.
2. Use a drill or nail to make a pilot hole and screw D-rings into the back of frame with top points of D-ring facing towards the upper center of your art (at approximately a 45 degree angle). If using larger screws for heavier works of art, ‘drilling’ a hole first is recommended.
3. Loop one end of wire through D-ring, tie and neatly wrap.
4. Pull untied end of wire across to second D-ring leaving a small amount of slack.
5. Add an additional 3-4 inches of wire beyond D-ring to tie and wrap. If your art is heavy, consider leaving enough wire to hang from two hooks on the wall instead of one.
   
6. Loop through second D-ring, tie and neatly wrap.
   
7. Be sure that the top of your art lies as flat as possible against the wall. If not, then tighten the wire and test again.

TIP: Be sure that once your second D-ring is wrapped, the top point of the wire while your art is hanging does not extend above the (bottom edge of the frame back or stretcher bars. If wire extends above it, simply shorten the wire.
TIP: Testing it to be sure that your art will sit as close to the wall as possible, before tying and wrapping the wire, may save you some time.

WIRING FOR EYE-HOOKS

Eye-hooks enable your art to hang flat against a wall because they are screwed INSIDE and not into the back of your frame or stretcher bars.

Important: In addition, screwing the eye-hooks into the “inside” of the frame or stretcher bars, will ensure that they will not damage the art below or behind it when stacking and/or storing your art.

Supplies: Eye-hooks, wire at a weight that will sufficiently support your art, needle-nose pliers, hammer and 1 nail, or drill, patience.

1. Measure approx. 1/3 – 1/4″ down from top of your art (or frame if framed) on the left and right INSIDES of your frame or support and mark these points;
   
2. Use a drill or nail to make pilot holes on INNER SIDES of back of frame. If using larger screws, drilling screw-holes is recommended.
   
3. Loop one end of wire through the eye-hook, tie and neatly wrap.
   
4. Pull untied end of wire across to second eye-hook, leaving a small amount of slack.
   
5. Add an additional 3-4 inches of wire beyond the eye-hook for tying and wrapping that end.
6. Loop through second eye-hook,
7. Once you’re satisfied with the correct wire length, tie and neatly wrap.

TIP: Be sure that once your second D-ring is wrapped, the top point of the wire while your art is hanging does not extend above the (bottom edge of the frame back or stretcher bars. If wire extends above it, simply shorten the wire.
