Encaustic Explorations
As an inspired eclectic artist, I tend to follow whatever is my current inspiration. I enjoy working with a variety of art forms, including encaustics, printmaking, photography, and pastels.
Here, at Gallery 113, I am exhibiting a selection of encaustic paintings. The encaustic medium allows for a mixed media technique and involves using heated beeswax to which colored pigments are added. A small amount of damar resin is added to achieve a desired level of hardness. Other media, such as inks, oils, pastels and shellac have been fused into the wax to add depth and detail. Encaustic paintings are of an archival quality and have been around for thousands of years.
I hope you enjoy viewing my paintings!
