Katherine Morse
Representations in Oil
Katherine has been drawn to the outdoors since she was a child, with its changing atmospheric conditions, all molding the landscape around it and telling a story which captivates the spirit and inspires the soul.
As a small child, she spent summers on Cape Cod on the water and as an adult, after moving to California, she grew to love the majesty of the San Gabriel Mountains in Pasadena and more recently, the Santa Barbara coast. She is inspired to share its beauty, its transitory yet expansive nature with its subtle color and strong tonality. Each landscape, animal or figurative work has a unique perspective and story to tell. Katherine’s mission is to capture the essence of that moment by sharing its beauty, lightness or depth, that “space in between” life and art.
Katherine has supplemented her life-long passion for the visual arts and design with courses at Art Center College of Design and classes/ plein air workshops in Santa Barbara. Katherine works in oil – direct painting, landscape, still life and figurative – with a special focus on landscapes of Santa Barbara and S. California. She is currently in several exhibitions in S. Barbara and Carpinteria.
