“I have increasingly taken note of the changes and damage to our environment, due to either pollution or climate change. As I live near the ocean this has become the focus of these changes, both seen or unseen. The food chain starts right at the bottom with microscopic organisms. I became interested in their importance, complexity and fragility. Specifically, the project I subsequently assigned myself was a series of reduction linocuts that interpreted images of some invertebrates that reflected my interest in intricate shape and elegant composition. The colors I chose seemed to reflect those shapes.”
