Whatever is in front of my lens… the subject is always light. This series of photographs are from my Wabi Sabi series. I interpret Wabi Sabi as finding beauty in imperfection and impermanence. These photos are classically lit in my studio using a ‘stack focusing’ technique that combines several images at different focal lengths to create one image where every detail of the subject is in focus. Combined with a black or neutral backdrop, these images convey both a sense of beauty and a delicate sense of melancholy for their impermanence.
