Virginia Kamhi has always been mesmerized by the sea. She enjoys painting “plein air,” but even when she doesn’t begin a painting outdoors, she spends many hours in just one spot studying the light, movement, and colors and observing the depths and translucence of the water, the shimmer of sunlight on wet sand, and the reflections. She feels the sensory input acquired on location translates into the mood of each painting. While she also paints in oil, pastels are her medium of choice.
